Amber Huber

Amber Huber was born May 30, 1983 in Rockford, Illinois.  When she was 6 years old she moved with her family to Byron, Illinois.  Amber attended Byron schools and graduated from Byron High School in 2001.  While in school, Amber was involved in many activities and sports.  Her passion was for cheerleading and track.  She was on a competitive cheerleading squad that competed on a National Level and on the high school squad.  Her hard work and competitive drive led her to State Qualification in girl's track in the long jump event.  She had set this as a personal goal her junior year at BHS.

Amber continued her education at the University of Iowa.  She again became very involved in many college activities including cheerleading.  She joined the Gamma Phi Beta Chapter and was very active in her sorority, and had many friends.  During her Sophomore/Junior year Amber worked for the sports marketing department at Iowa.  One of the highlights for her was working with Tom Arnold when "The Best Damned Sport Show Period" came to an Iowa football game.  She loved sports and always followed the football and basketball teams.  In March 2003 Amber was diagnosed with an atypical T-cell Lymphoma.  The next 6 months she went through intensive chemotherapy at the University of Iowa Medical Center.  While there she won the hearts of the staff with her positive outlook and attitude.  Amber passed away on September 4, 2003.
